Why read if you don’t have a secret bottom shelf where you hide your guilty pleasures when guests arrive? Why read if you don’t feel the rush to write a review the minute you turn the final page? Why read if you don’t count how many pages words sentences stanzas or square meters of text you consumed this year?
Wonderful! Genius perspective. I often feel guilty for not reading that much, because I usually paint or make stuff when I have a free minute. This made me feel better😃😄😁
Great post! So funny and raised some points I have not considered before. There is for sure the ability now for people to make their reading into sort of a competitive sport. And then there’s this setting of annual goals for number of books read etc. it’s like we’re not supposed to just ENJOY anything anymore.
I once saw a guy on LinkedIn doing the splits on two tall stacks of (mostly managerial) books he read that year. I should know better not to go on LinkedIn.

I love this a lot!
